Staying in El Gouna
El Gouna is a holiday resort on the Red Sea, 30min north of Hurghada by car. It’s a great spot for kite surfing, snorkeling, diving, as well as restaurants and bars. This is where S & P will stay (at Abu Tig Marina) before and after the Nile Cruise. There are many hotels to choose from, starting around CHF 80.- per night. A limited number of apartments/villas are also available.

General info
The northern-most coast of El Gouna has mainly kite surf clubs which also provide food, drinks and beach lounges.
Further south is The Marina, and within it Abu Tig Marina, where we will be staying. The Marina is especially nice in the evenings, with many restaurants and bars, music. There is also a beach where you have to pay an entrance fee and a pleasant beach bar called Moods.
Even further south is downtown EL Gouna. There you have plenty of restaurants and bars for all budgets, as well as souvenir shops and a supermarket.
If you are staying in an Airbnb, you can buy your groceries in the big, plentiful Gourmet Supermarket or in the smaller Bestway Supermarkets. You can buy local beers and wines at Drinkies in downtown El Gouna.
You can also book excursions to explore the sea, or even the desert nearby.

Food and Entertainment
El Gouna is full of restaurants, bars, shops and some music venues. We recommend reserving. In general the food quality is good, you don't have to worry about what you eat. Don't drink tap water and the ice should be made with filtered water, but you can always ask the staff.
Restaurant recommendations:
@ The Marina
Sotto Sopra - Italian & pizza
Saigon - authentic Vietnamese (we especially love their Steamed Fish dish with shiitake mushrooms & their homemade tofu)

Mer Bey - authentic Lebanese in pleasant ambience
El Bahr - local seafood restaurant at the sea (the best!)

Chicha - yummy tacos & nachos (order their Nachos Libre!)
Villa Coconut - upscale dining at beautiful location
Luma - Fusion/Middle Eastern (nice vibe)
